Safe Travel Campaign Launched, Public Trust Increased, Number of Airplane Passengers Raised

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) and stakeholders on July 29, 2020 announced to the public the holding of a Safe Travel Campaign: Safe Airport for Safe Travel Experience at 19 airports.

Internally, the campaign was launched two days earlier, starting July 27, 2020.

Through this Safe Travel Campaign, all personnel of PT Angkasa Pura II as managers of 19 airports and stakeholder personnel are fully committed to maintaining compliance with global standard health protocols, including according to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) which also refers to the International Airport Council (ACI).

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said the main objective of this Safe Travel Campaign was that the airport was always ready and alert in terms of operations and services that prioritized health aspects amid the adaptation of this new habit.

"We hope that the readiness and alertness of this airport can increase and maintain public trust in air transportation in the midst of this pandemic. PT Angkasa Pura II as an airport operator and stakeholders such as the Airport Authority, airlines, KKP Ministry of Health, Quarantine Centers, Immigration Offices, and others strive to realize a healthy airport, a safe airport, and a hygienic airport, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Muhammad Awaluddin revealed that the Safe Travel Campaign which was held in the fourth week of July 2020 was actually able to have a positive impact, namely increasing public trust in air transportation.

"We will announce the Safe Travel Campaign, which ensures strict health protocols at 19 airports, at the end of July, and then it has a positive impact where in early August the number of airplane passengers has increased," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin explained that on August 1 - 5, 2020, the number of aircraft passengers at 19 PT Angkasa Pura II airports was recorded as 311,565 passengers or a 46% jump compared to July 1 - 5, 2020, namely 212,961 passengers.

Aircraft movements also increased by 10% or from 3,314 movements to 3,629 movements.

"We will maintain this public trust so that the 19 PT Angkasa Pura II airports can be optimal in maintaining flight connectivity and helping support the national economic recovery. "Said Muhammad Awaluddin.


Contraction in the Transport & Tourism sector
The transportation and tourism sectors experienced the deepest contraction in Q2 / 2020.

President Joko Widodo said that in the second quarter of 2020, foreign tourists fell 81% on a quarter-to-quarter basis and 87% on a year-on-year basis.

Increasing public confidence in national airlines starting this month is expected to help boost growth in the transportation and tourism sector in the following quarter

"The increasing public trust in the aviation sector, especially at the airports of PT Angkasa Pura II, in line with strict health protocols, is expected to support the growth of the transportation sector," Muhammad Awaluddin explained.

PT Angkasa Pura II also supports the government in consolidating and transforming so that the foundation of the tourism and transportation sector is getting stronger.

The airports currently managed by PT Angkasa Pura II are Soekarno-Hatta (Tangerang), Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (Palembang), Kualanamu (Deli Serdang), Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru), Silangit (Tapanuli North).

Then, Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang), Supadio (Pontianak), Banyuwangi, Radin Inten II (Lampung), Husein Sastranegara (Bandung), Depati Amir (Pangkalpinang), Sultan Thaha (Jambi), HAS Hanandjoeddin (Belitung), Tjilik Riwut (Palangkaraya) and Kertajati (Majalengka), Fatmawati Soekarno (Bengkulu), Sultan Iskandar Muda (Aceh) and Minangkabau (Padang).
