Angkasa Pura II Operates Automatic Disinfectant Spraying Machine at the Airport

06 Apr 2020 - (Persero) operates an automatic disinfectant spraying machine at the airport. The tool will later spray luggage, trolley, and trays used by passengers to carry luggage.

"After being unloaded from the plane, the baggage is placed in the conveyor belt in the break down area, to pass through the disinfecting chamber. Then with the same conveyor belt the luggage goes to the baggage claim area at the passenger terminal," said VP of Corporate Communications of PT Angkasa Pura II Yado Yarismano in written statement, Sunday (5/4).

Yado said that automatic operation of the machine is only used on objects that are often used by passengers. Because, spraying disinfectants carries risks to humans and is not recommended by WHO and the Ministry of Health. This is an innovation to minimize the spread of the corona virus in Indonesia.

"Spraying with disinfectant liquid is expected to clean or eliminate viruses in the checked luggage, trolley and X-Ray tray. On top of that, we continue to campaign to wash hands after touching each item, because the most effective way is to wash hands properly." he said.

"In line with that, PT Angkasa Pura II is innovating to shift all of its uses to specifically for disinfecting spraying to luggage, trolley and x-ray trays. We hope this innovation can maintain the comfort and peace of aircraft passengers," he added.

In addition, continued Yado, his party also routinely carried out spraying in the airport area, public areas, to office areas.

"Spraying disinfectant liquid is carried out in all areas in 19 airports of PT Angkasa Pura II, including to points or objects that may be often held by travelers or airport visitors. Please pray and support the community so that efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 run smoothly," he concluded.
