WARTAKOTALIVE.COM, JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) informed that starting April 1, 2020 airports under the management of the company have made operational patterns adjustments as part of a strategy to face the challenges of the corona virus or Covid-19.
Adjusting operational patterns is carried out dynamically by considering trends in aircraft passenger movements and flight frequency at each airport.
Through the strategy of adjusting operational patterns, each airport can optimize its facilities and personnel, so that it can adjust the need to condition the passenger lane at the airport so that physical distancing can continue.
PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the adjustment of the operational pattern was aimed at maintaining the health aspects of aircraft passengers, airport visitors, and airport workers.
Muhammad Awaluddin revealed that the airport that had adjusted its operational pattern in the midst of the Covid-19 challenge was Soekarno-Hatta International Airport

Since 1 April 2020, Soekarno-Hatta conducted operational restrictions on Terminal 1 by only opening Sub Terminal 1A, and in Terminal 2 by only opening 2D and 2E Sub Terminals. Meanwhile, airlines that normally operate in Sub Terminal 2F were moved temporarily to Terminal 3.
"Soekarno-Hatta has adjusted the operational patterns. By conducting operational restrictions on the terminal, the passenger flow in the entire airport automatically simplifies and makes security checks and health surveillance more optimal, "Muhammad Awaluddin said in his official statement on Friday (3/4/2020).
The operational adjustment pattern as in Soekarno-Hatta has also been applied at other airports under PT Angkasa Pura II.
"Through this strategy, PT Angkasa Pura II airports can operate optimally with due regard to safety, security, service and compliance with regulations amid the Covid-19 pandemic," he added.
The facilities that can be minimized for conditioning and simplifying passenger lanes are non-priority ones such as elevators, travellators, escalators, lighting lamps and so on.
Regarding this adjustment in operational patterns, PT Angkasa Pura II also implemented an Operational HR optimization, in which the official roster system was implemented for employees in charge of supporting airport operations.
"The existence of this roster system allows employees in airport operations to have time to work at home so that the risk of exposure to the virus is reduced. At a time like this it is only natural that health aspects become a priority so that they have more time to work at home so that the risk of exposure to the virus is reduced, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Currently 4 airport operational status categories are applied at PT Angkasa Pura II airports, namely operating status categories: Normal Operation, Slow Down Operation, Minimum Operation and Terminate Operation.
