Latest news about PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero)
tirto.id - The existence of the COVID-19 corona virus pandemic has reduced the number of passengers at airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin explained the decrease in aircraft passengers per quarter 2020 reached 4.84 percent.
"During January - March 2020, the number of airplane passenger movements on domestic and international routes in all PT Angkasa Pura II airports recorded 20.79 million passengers or only decreased about 4.84 percent compared with January - March 2019," explained Awaluddin, Thursday (2/4/2020).
He explained that national airlines began to get excited at the beginning of this year after the issue of expensive tickets last year. However, this good condition must be back down because the COVID-19 corona pandemic arrived in Indonesia. March was the sharpest drop in passenger numbers this year.
"On a year-on-year basis, in January 2020 the number of passengers rose 3.18 percent, then in February 2020 it rose 3.71 percent. But in March 2020 experienced a decrease of 21.27 percent because indeed the community responded well enough by the government not to travel outside the city or abroad and chose to stay at home and work from home to break the chain of COVID-19 distribution, "he explained.
He explained the impact of the COVID-19 corona virus had indeed been felt since the beginning of the year, but only on international flights. PT Angkasa Pura II airports alone account for 70 percent of domestic flights.
He detailed several airports that experienced a drastic decline. Some of them, namely at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, which is the busiest airport in Indonesia, the number of passenger movements during the first three months of this year was 12.09 million passengers, down 5.11 percent compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile aircraft movements edged down 0.26 percent to 93,599 movements from 93,847 movements.

The aircraft's movement in Kualanamu actually experienced an increase of 3.68% from the previous 15,657 movements to 16,223 movements.
"Although the number of passenger movements began to decline in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, all PT Angkasa Pura II airports continue to operate normally by always prioritizing security, safety, services and compliance with existing regulations. [compliance], "he said.
