Runway 3 Soekarno-Hatta Airport Officially Operates

20 Dec 2019, Jakarta The runway (runway 3) of Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, officially operates on Friday, December 20, 2019. Operation of the runway in order to unravel the density of aircraft movements before the Christmas and New Year 2020 holidays.

"Most importantly, we have reported it to the regulator, then to the Minister of Transportation. Our task is completed first," said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin, during a press conference.

Runway 3 continues to operate even though there is no schedule yet for President Joko Widodo to be inaugurated. This became an agreement between AP II and related stakeholders such as Airnav, the Airport Authority (Otban) and the Meteorology, Kematology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

Not without careful consideration, Awaluddin revealed that there were at least three reasons underlying the operation of the 3,000 square meter runway.

"First, the entire infrastructure has been completed one hundred percent, it has been from August. But together, we agreed at that time to familiarize first," he said.

Plus the completion of the east cross taxiway, which connects the one-sided south runway with the two-sided north runway. Then in 2020 will connect runway three.

So, AP II is very confident, if the infrastructure on the north side of Soekarno Hatta International Airport, is sufficient.

"This realizes the wishes of Mr. Jokowi, Mr. Menhub and the aviation community. Then we will take care of the rest," said Awaluddin.

Then, the second basis is, the regulatory aspects or fundamental rules of airport infrastructure, namely Safety, Security, Services, and Complaints, have been fulfilled and revised in accordance with the existence of runway three.

"For example, documents or SOPs such as the Aedro Manual for 2 runways, are now being revised to 3 runways. Likewise with other SOPs that have been re-compiled," Awaluddin said.

Finally, the focus of AP II, Airnav, Otban and BMKG is on improving the quality, quantity and competence of existing HR or personnel.

"We are from the airport operations, HR aspects, especially Airnav in the field, ready for the operation of this third runway," he stressed.
