Soekarno Hatta Airport Launches Mobile Command Post for Emergencies

19 Nov 2019

Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Soekarno Hatta International Airport on Tuesday launched its Mobile Command Post (MCP) focused on offering central integrated treatment during emergency scenarios.

It is a bus replete with up-to-date facilities that complies with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulatory standards and National Aviation regulations.

"This MCP aims to be operated as a crisis center functioning as an integrated command, communication, and coordination center during on-ground emergency situations, such as plane crashes," Executive General Manager Branch Communication and Legal of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Febri Toga Simatupang informed the press.

The Aviation and Fire Fighting Accident (PKP-PK) standards necessitate airports, with PKP-PK categories 7 to 10, to have MCP facilities in place. Since the Soekarno-Hatta Airport has currently reached the PKP-PK 9 category, the MCP should be readied.

In emergency scenarios, all crew members of MCP comprising the aviation accident commander, firefighters, security commander, medical and transportation center coordinator, as well as head of forensics will be coming over to the scene of the accident that is believed to ease the coordination process for further treatment.
