Purbalingga - The management of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), led by President Director Muhammad Awaluddin, visited the offices of the Regent of Purbalingga and Danlanud General Besar Soedirman, Purbalingga Regency, Saturday (23/03).

The visit of representatives of Angkasa Pura II was welcomed by Diah Hayuning Pratiwi as Acting Regent of Purbalingga. Diah said that she would provide support to Angkasa Pura II for the smooth development process of General Besar Soedirman Airport (BJBS). Diah said, "Meetings like this are certainly very positive for all parties. We will always support AP II in the BJBS development process so that it is on time as planned. The realization of General Besar Airport Sudirman has been eagerly awaited by the community, not only Purbalingga, but the districts around Purbalingga and will be the pride of the people of Central Java, especially the Purbalingga community, "said Diah.

According to Awaluddin, his arrival was an effort to increase communication intensity between the stakeholders of Jenderal Besar Airport Sudirman. Thus it is hoped that the construction of the airport which stands on 115 hectares of land will go according to plan. "We are grateful for the Regent's willingness to accept our visit and support the acceleration of BJBS development. It is hoped that in 2020 phase I has completed the air and land sides. So the operation is ready, "Awaluddin explained.

Angkasa Pura II group continued the meeting with Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Putu Sucahyadi as Danlanud General Besar Soedirman. Putu said that his party strongly supports the construction of General Besar Soedirman Airport. In addition to providing benefits in improving the regional economy, the existence of this airport is believed to be able to support the TNI's task in carrying out military operations. "The existence of this airport will also support the TNI's task in carrying out military operations such as TNI operations in natural disaster relief that require air transportation facilities in their handling," he explained.

The construction of General Besar Airport Soedirman phase I focused on accelerating the development of the air side with the construction of a runway of 1,600 meters long and 30 meters wide. Followed by the expansion of the terminal building with an area of ​​3,600 square meters that can accommodate almost 500,000 passenger movements per year.

The potential growth of the air transportation business in Purbalingga is quite promising. It is projected that passenger movements reach 98 thousand and can grow to no less than 500 thousand passengers per year with aircraft movements reaching more than 4,500 movements. Not only that, the movement of cargo is predicted to reach more than 2,000 tons per year.

The presence of Jenderal Besar Soedirman Airport will be able to reach a number of regions in Central Java so as to encourage economic growth in the western to southern parts of Central Java such as Banyumas Regency, Purbalingga Regency, Banjarnegara Regency, Wonosobo Regency, and Kebumen Regency.

The presence of Jenderal Besar Airport Sudirman is expected to contribute greatly in connectivity and maritime affairs, strengthening regional infrastructure to increase regional economic growth and integrating efforts to synergize SOEs.
