Jakarta - President Joko Widodo today, Friday, March 8, 2019, inaugurated Radin Inten II Airport in Lampung.

On this occasion the Head of State was accompanied by Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo, and the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, the Director General of Civil Aviation Polana B. Pramesti, and the Head of Radin Inten II Airport Asep Kosasih and President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin.

After signing the inauguration inscription, Jokowi told journalists that the management of Radin Inten II Airport should be immediately submitted to PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero).

"Just leave it to AP II so that management, development is faster," said the President.

In addition, the President continued, management by AP II will bring in more domestic and international flights at Radin Inten II Airport.

"Management by AP II will make more flights," said the Head of State.

Now the Radin Inten II Airport is still managed by the Airport Operational Unit (UPBU) under the Ministry of Transportation.

In August 2018, the Ministry of Transportation UPBU and AP II had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the handover of the management of Radin Inten II Airport.

The Director General of Civil Aviation Polana B. Pramesti said that currently the process of handing over the management of Radin Inten II Airport to AP II had entered the verification stage of State Property assets.

"The development will be carried out by AP II because now in the process of asset verification for the management of Cooperation in the Utilization of State Property, it is expected that AP II will invest," said Director General of Civil Aviation.

AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said it was hoped that in the near future discussions on the airport management could be completed.

"In the near future we hope that AP II can immediately become the manager of Radin Inten II Airport. We have prepared various development plans including the expansion of the passenger terminal, "said AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin.

"The investment value that has been prepared for the development of Radin Inten II Airport for the next 30 years is estimated at Rp500 billion, including the expansion of aircraft passenger terminals."

Specifically for the passenger terminal, the development will be carried out in 2019 to 2020 with an investment of around Rp 150 billion. The Radin Inten II Airport passenger terminal itself currently has an area of ​​5,000 square meters.

The airport is also equipped with a runway with a dimension of 3,000 x 45 m, with an apron area of ​​59,950 square meters to accommodate 8 aircraft parking stands. At present Raden Inten II Airport terminal capacity reaches 3.7 million passengers per year with passenger movements already above 2 million passengers per year.

Going forward, AP II will also develop operational support infrastructure such as the expansion and renovation of cargo buildings, construction of special electricity substations, construction of road access, construction of CCR and Power Quality operational buildings, and so on.

Radin Inten II Airport in Lampung is one of the airports that will be submitted to AP II this year, in addition to HAS Hanandjoeddin in Belitung and Fatmawati Soekarno in Bengkulu with the management pattern of Cooperation in Utilization of State Property.

With the addition of 3 airports managed, in 2019 AP II will handle 19 airports in Indonesia. AP II is also currently eyeing airport management in a Southeast Asian country.
